Up to now we've been able to respond to unsolicited requests for gigs here at the Uptown Coffeehouse on an individual basis. We've been getting so many requests lately that we felt compelled to reply with one of those "one size fits all turn downs."
Please know that this rejection on our part in no way reflects on the merit of your musical endeavors. Sadly, for a variety of reasons, we can't be of much help to most of the artists who contact us. We could go through the litany of reasons: we don't do opening acts; rarely do co-bills; only do about 9 shows per season; only seem to be able to draw a crowd for particular acts; already have a booking for the time frame being requested, and so on. The upshot of all this is that we can probably find you pretty easily if it seems at some point like a booking here makes sense. We will keep your correspondence on file. We don't want anyone to waste their time and money sending us press kits and promo packs that really won't help. If you're looking for gigs in this area we'd suggest logging on to www.acousticlive.com, which is one of the best resources for venues in this area.
